  • Equipment Recommendation for Training

Can anyone recommend inventory and ordering solutions independent of the FTC Team Registration?

    Requirements and questions:

    1) Equipment will be used for training purposes. They inventory of parts should be flexible but not necessarily enough for a competition ready solution

    2) Must work with the FTC SDK and Android platform.

    3) Does not require Legacy components.

    4) Recommended set for building the K9

    5) Recommended set for building the Pushbot

    6) Breakdown of equipment by vendor + links to ordering

    7) Cost comparison to obtaining the same system via FTC Team registration.

    Thanks

Best way to get the following:

    1. Parts - Individual parts costs more http://www.tetrixrobotics.com/extra_...mpetition_Sets
    2. Modern Robotics http://modernroboticsinc.com/core-control-modules
    3. Android phones from eBay or any other sources.

      Thanks Ninjas.

I'd like to purchase extra motors and servos. Tetrix sells the 485HB servo which I assume does not need additional wiring. However I cannot seem to find the DC Gear Motor and Encoder that is in FTC Competition list of parts. They do offer something from their MAX line:
http://www.tetrixrobotics.com/TETRIX_DC_Gear_Motor. However the required wiring looks a bit different : http://www.tetrixrobotics.com/Motor_Power_Cable.
Will this be compatible? Perhaps I should be looking elsewhere for individual motors (possible ones with encoders included)

      Any recommendations?

The motor you linked is in fact a motor that our team has been using (and is still using) with Legacy controllers. It has the adapter as per second link to attach to its terminals. The encoder wiring is a separate cable coming to a shaft encoder that is installed in a separate step.

We moved to Andy Mark Motors http://www.andymark.com/Search-s/545.htm?Search=neverst

With new Anderson connectors, it is stronger and we will not have loose contacts.
