Programming IDE for the new system?

If RobotC is out, what environment will be used for the
teams that wish to use purely text-based Java?

I can vouch that Android Studio (or IntelliJ IDEA, which Android Studio is based off of and also has Android support) is a truly great IDE. Unlike RobotC. The difference is unbelievable, especially if you take some time to learn how to use it.

Hi FTC0025 - thanks for your post.

Currently, if you would like to program in a text-based language for the new robot platform, you would use Google's Android Studio. Android Studio is a free IDE that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux.
