  • Official Allowable Parts thread for this year?

I noticed there is a thread for official judging of allowable parts in previous years. Is there one for this year yet?

It seems (after a lot of forum reading) that there are a lot more things allowed this year. COTS hinges, springs etc which were prohibited previously all seem acceptable this year. What about alternate wheels? With the steep ramp, our team was looking at options and some of the VEX wheels were brought up as possibilities. For example:

    http://www.robotmesh.com/vex-5inch-wheels
    http://www.robotmesh.com/vex-4inch-wheels

Although I think I like the Andymark stealth wheels best (http://www.andymark.com/product-p/am-2648.htm)

When I go to these rules and they address hinges the dates are back to 2013. I am not sure of the current guide lines for this year? When we look at a linear slide or a lazy susan being allowed as a single degree of freedom I am thinking a cabinet hinge would also be allowed? We compete overseas and have seen them on robots. Just want to make sure we are legal when we get to St. Louis.

I assume you used the search function which also searches previous years unless you use advanced search to limit how far back to search. I personally find the search function not very useful, I just tried it and did not get the results I got with my alternative method, which is to use the pdf file FIRST generates of the current season.

Get this file and search it -
          https://www.firstinspires.org/sites/...-questions.pdf

I see only one reference to a hinge.

If you have a question that someone else hasn't covered you need to post your own question to the rules forum. You have to use the team assigned logon, instructions found here -

A cabinet hinge is fine. You will not have any issues in St. Louis.
