We have 6 members. 2 of which are programmers/builders, 2 are marketing and team spirit, 2 are financial specialist ( keeping us on a reasonable budget). We were only 3 last year and have grown to 6 and recruited two other rookie teams with 5 and 8.

Our team has five (not all of which come regularly), one programmer and main builder (me), and the other four being design helpers and marketing for the most part.

        This should answer your question
If the image is unavailable, it says for the best FTC experience, your team shouldnt pass 15 members.
This is from FTC (Tims) while doing team roster.

We have 20 students and 6 mentors among two teams.

Both help each other in programming and the building process. Even though we have two teams in the same room, the robots look completely different in design and purpose.

Along with that, the teams custom design and build their robots. Very Little to no Textrix elements (Other than motors, servos,Controllers, and such)

Our team has one coach and 5 students. We don't really have defined roles for any more than a weekly basis.

Does anyone know what is the maximum number amount of members are on a team? We have currently almost 30 members and we heard a rule that allowed only 15 members. Is this allowed?

According to FTC Mentor Manual, p33:
                http://www.firstinspires.org/sites/d...tor-manual.pdf

"The maximum number of students allowed is 15."

Further, the Game Manual Part I says,
Team – An official FIRST Tech Challenge Team consists of no more than 15 student Team members....
Previous years had similar wording: "A Team is comprised of not more than 15 students..."

We have 16 members and we have never had any issues. Last year we had 18, I believe. I have also seem teams at super regionals with 30+ members.

                    I wouldn't worry about it.

Interestingly, the Team definition noted above ("Team – An official FIRST Tech Challenge Team consists of no more than 15 student Team members...") appears to have be added to the definitions section of the Game Manual Part I for the first time this year. It did not exist in the definitions section of the Res-Q or Cascade Effect Game Manuals.

Given this change, it might be worth asking a question on the official Q&A forum, especially if you're going to exceed the number by a large amount as you describe.

There doesn't appear to be a public release of any recent update to the referenced documents (Mentor Guide, Game Manual 1) which were previously mentioned as documenting the fifteen student member limit. If there's been a rule update, I would expect that it would be documented there, or in the official rules thread (probably both). I haven't seen the question asked officially there either, so you may wish to have your team coach/mentor ask there using the official question process, as otherwise you are unlikely to get any official answer.

What have you seen/heard to indicate that there has been a rule update/change?

I guess since this really is more related to US FIRST FTC team rules than game rules, it is possible that this may be addressed elsewhere.

I asked in an official Q&A forum question over 10 days ago but have not yet seen an answer.

I asked a different question in the "Judging Process" forum around a week or more ago, and I have yet to see a response either. So it's not just you.
