  • Adding a 5th motor with only one REV Expansion Hub

Does anyone have a suggestion for adding a 5th motor with only one REV Hub? The Hubs appear to be out of stock for a while, and we lost one of ours due to a broken USB connector. The 5th motor is just a winch for raising an arm, a simple on/off should suffice.

Do any of your other motors happen to work in tandem, so they could be connected using a Y-splitter? Or possibly use a servo instead for one of the applications?

Maybe a heavier-duty continuous servo for your winch?

One of our teams has 5 motors - 4 for mecanum drivetrain, and one for a lifter. We have connect the phone to a MR CPDM. The CPDM has 1 USB cable going to the REV hub (which has the 4 drivetrain motors, servos, and sensors), and 1 USB goes to a MR Motor Controller with lift motor. 12V power also goes from CPDM to REV hub and MR motor controller.
This has worked for us so far.

Why is this a problem? Did you send the broken module in for repair? As long as 1 Rev Hub has a good USB port, the second connects to the first with RS-485 not USB . . .

Thanks everyone. We were able to use the broken Rev Hub as soon as we got the appropriate cables to connect the two hubs together.
