    Community generated Phone Setup vidoes

    Hi

Since this sub-thread has been created, I just thought I'd re-post links to my two videos on how to do a general phone setup, and how to setup wireless debugging.

    Basic ZTE phone setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n597..._pnzE2&index=1

Wireless Android Studio debugging setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XZ6..._pnzE2&index=2

    Phil.
We highly recommend Phil's vids to anyone setting up phones for the new FTC control technology (teams or mentors).

We had two team members (both 13) work through the set-up of our two phones last weekend and had both up and running and responding to Android Studio in less than an hour with no problems at all.

There are a LOT of little nuisances in the set-up that we wouldn't have known otherwise, (like how to get the phone into dev mode) so watch the vids and some a ton of time figuring it out on your own.

    Thanks Phil!!

    Great Video Phil!

I watched your video and made an outline for those who want to follow along on paper or just want to follow the steps instead of watching the video.

Your video was a great help. Already configured phone and downloaded Driver Station App. Simple question - but just to make sure - the same steps to prepare the Android phone need to be done to the Robot Controller phone as well, correct?

    Correct - both phones.

Here is how to rename phones as well...
    Select Settings
    Select WiFi
Select the three dots at the bottom right
    Select Wi-Fi Direct
Select three dots at the bottom of this page and use the Rename Device option.
<RS02> Each Team MUST “name” their Robot Controller with their official FTC Team number and –RC (e.g. “1234-RC”). Each Team MUST “name” their Driver Station with their official FTC Team number and –DS (e.g. 1234-DS). Spare Android devices should be named with the Team number followed by a hyphen then a letter designation beginning with “B” (e.g. “1234-B-RC”, “1234-C-RC”).

I wonder if this is going to change, as the team numbers are about to hit 10000 if you look on the FIRST website.

The WiFi Direct name can be dozens of characters; length of the team number won't be a problem.
