Pre-release apps and software are available for download

    Hi Folks,

The software development kit (SDK) and Android apps for the new FTC robot platform are now available on the Internet. Volunteers, teams and mentors can access the pre-release (beta) versions and begin to learn how to use the new system to create custom robot behaviors with the Android platform.

The SDK is available from GitHub:

    https://github.com/ftctechnh/ftc_app

The Android apps are available on Google Play (either directly from your Android device or from a PC)

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rstation&hl=en
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ntroller&hl=en

Also, documentation is available to help the community become familiar with the new platform:

    https://github.com/ftctechnh/ftc_app...r/doc/tutorial

Please note that these are pre-release (beta) copies. The official release of the software is currently scheduled for June (to coincide with the release of the hardware modules).

We encourage users to post questions and share feedback here:

    Sincerely,

    Tom

    Hi RedfishRobotics,

I'm glad we are finally able to release the software. Thanks to everyone for their patience. If you're not sure where to start, consider taking a look at the PDF files in the doc/tutorial subdirectory on the repo - they are a good place to start.

FTC_NextGenGuide_v0_91.docx, Section 5.3, "prevent group loop issues" should be "prevent ground loop issues"

Tom, is the plan to keep the sdk on github even after the official release? I think it would be fantastic to give members of the community, both students and mentors, the opportunity to contribute to it.

    Thanks again Tom.

This evening we got Android Studio installed on two computers, got all the SDK's imported (including the FTC BETA), with some help from Phil Malone's videos we got both phones set up, got both apps installed on each, and even got the phones to answer over wifi in dev mode.

We did the two set-ups at the same time, and we got pretty much the same errors and missing file errors on both (mostly Android Studio errors).

Took a couple of hours, but looks like we're well on our way, and with Intelitek's training coming out in the next few days, we should have a good head start while we wait for the hardware to ship.

We'll keep you posted if we run into anything share-worthy, and any team is always free to contact us if we can help in any way: info@redfishrobotics.com
