    Type of device?

The FAQ says that the android devices used for next year will be off the shelf devices. Does this mean that they are android phones, or something else? Also are the devices connected to the controllers different or the same as the devices attached to the robots? Can you give us a better idea of what we'll be using next year?

Prediction: It will be a Nexus 5 for the robot and a Nexus 7 for the DS. With Snapdragon + Google as strategic partners this would make sense and give Google a way to get a lot of the discontinued Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 off their hands (they support the right technologies and there is still probably a decent bit of surplus stock (which may have been sold to/be sold through FIRST at a relatively low cost). i don't know when FIRST will officially announce the devices, but even if this guess is wfong, I'm pretty sure it will be a device recently discontinued/updated by the manufacturer, enabling FIRST to acquire a large quantity at low cost, since the manufactuer wants to get rid of them in some way, and selling them off at low cost to FIRST is a good way to get publicity and get the devices out.

If you're right, this would make me extremely happy. Both of these have great power and are great devices for the cost!

I agree with the Nexus prediction, especially since they're vanilla/stock Android, AFAIK.

This would make perfect sense, given the timing of the release . . .

If I could edit my posts (can I?) I wouldn't post all these comments and keep it all to one.

I put my money on the The DragonBoard 410 . I have yet to see a price on it though. Do some googling for it.

However a screen is not stock on it...perhaps not necessary?

    we'll see!

Looking at this thread, there will be a screen on at least the DS side. If the DragonBoard 410 doesn't have a screen, the DS side is something else.
