Due to an increase of spam on the FIRST Tech Challenge forums, new user accounts must contain:
1. a valid email address
2. a reference to a valid FTC team number
3. a valid location (city, state/province)
New accounts will be manually verified before users are able to post to forums.
Please Note: Game Q&A forum posts must be made using the forum login and password assigned to your team. The main contact for your team will find your team credentials in their dashboard, near the bottom of the page.
We are very sorry for the unavoidable delays that manual verification creates. Thank you for your patience.

We are building our field and I could not find the 2" Drain Plug at a local Home Depot or Lowes, nor on their websites. Can you provide a source from which we can order them? Thanks, Coyote Robotics
A: First, check your local Ace or True Value Hardware store.
The part is available for purchase online from many sources. Perform a Google search for the “Oatey 2” All PVC Snap-In Drain.” Next, click on the “shopping” link at the top of the Google results page.
[]What is the official mat source for the playing field? We want to replicate what is to be expected at the competition so that we can test traction coefficient on our wheels. Different drive configurations etc. .
We got a few panels of the black material from Harbor freight. But the 2 sides of the material have different traction coefficient with the normal "up" textured side being more slippery. Which side is FTC using upwards?
The mats for our Official FTC events come from SoftTiles.com. They are 5/8" thick Gray 2'x2' mats, and they are used smooth side up at events.
On page 18 of the Field Drawings, the front view of item 182 (support crossmember upper) shows the two holes for the machine screws drilled 2" from the lower edge of the support plate. On the drawing just to the right (assembled support frame), item 182 appears to be flipped so that those two holes are 1" from the lower edge. Which position is correct?
Item 182 and the Dispenser Support Assembly are both correct. The front view of item 182 correctly shows the dimensions, hole pattern, and hole sizes. The Dispenser Support Assembly correctly shows the orientation of item 182 when it is attached to the assembly.
I suspect that this information is somewhere, but we have not been able to find it. What are the heights from the floor to the bottom of the three baton dispensers (High, Medium and Low)?
Boson Subatomic Particles (Team 3658)
The heights of the angle brackets supporting the bottom baton in the Dispenser are listed below. See the attached illustration.
Where do we find the detailed drawings for the field perimeter? Not the low cost alternative but the standard field perimeter.
A diagram of the FTC Field Perimeter that will be available for sale this season can be found at the AndyMark.biz web site. http://www.andymark.biz/am-0481.html
Where do I find my team code to order the IR beacon from HiTechnic? I have entered my team number, name, forum password - none of them worked.
A: Quoted from the last Email blast from FTC: "We’ve recycled the IR Beacons from the HotShot! Season, but if you need one for practice, you can get yours from HiTechnic (http://www.hitechnic.com). The code to order IR beacons is FTC2010"
What are the inside dimensions of the field perimeter wall?
The inside dimension of the field is approximately 140.5" square, the outside dimension is approximately 143" square and the height is approximately 11.5".
Please note that the new field promoted in post #7 has larger dimensions than the existing field mentioned in post #9.
The page linked to in #7 has specs that show the new field has an inside dimension of 146", not 140.5". [This appears NOT to be a typo, as the three lexan panels per side are shown to be over 47" long, each] I did not do a wall-height comparison.
This may be a problem for teams that program an autonomous, dead-reckoning routine on a different-sized field than the one they end up competing on.
For newer teams who are in process of building fields, will FIRST take a position for the future as to which size field will be officially approved for competition ?
The field drawings that are currently posted on the Andy Mark website are out-of-date. They do not represent the actual dimensions of the final field. The drawings should get updated shortly.
